Woodstock / Oxford County SCJ – Adjournments, closures

Members of the Oxford County Bar,
As you likely now know, all Superior Court of Justice Criminal, Family, and Civil Law matters have been adjourned as of March 17, 2020, until June 2020, as per the Order of Chief Justice Morawetz (online at https://www.ontariocourts.ca/scj/). Urgent matters will be dealt with on a case by case basis and will be reviewed by our assigned Triage Judge. A breakdown of the adjournment dates for Woodstock is below.
Criminal Court Matters
Matters scheduled for March, 2020 are adjourned to June 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
Matters scheduled for April, 2020 are adjourned to June 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
Matters scheduled for May, 2020 are adjourned to June 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
Accused persons in Criminal Court matters now have a bench warrant with discretion (s. 597(4)) issued to return on June 2nd, 3, or 4th, (depending on their assigned month), and if the person fails to appear in this Court on their assigned date, a warrant will be issued for their arrest, as per the March 15, 2020, Order of Chief Justice Morawetz.
Civil & Family Law Matters
Matters scheduled for March, 2020 are adjourned to June 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
Matters scheduled for April, 2020 are adjourned to June 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
Matters scheduled for May, 2020 are adjourned to June 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Courtroom #1
At this time, all matters which were scheduled on the May 15, 2020 Assignment Court have been adjourned to June 4th, at 10:00 a.m. for Criminal matters, and 11:00 a.m. for Family and Civil matters.
These June 2020 dates listed above will run as a “COVID Assignment Court.” This will be a Scheduling Court where our presiding Justice will address all matters scheduled for the designated month and assign them for an appropriate hearing date.
